Institutional Assessment
Not only do we “Educate For Service,” we also Educate with service.
All of our assessment efforts focus on how to continually improve the services we deliver to our students and employees. This philosophy is further reinforced through our accreditation process.
Our accrediting body (the Middle States Commission for Higher Education) organizes assessment into two useful areas: Institutional Effectiveness (under its Standard 7) and educational effectiveness (under its Standard 14). We have organized our assessment structures and activities under these two standards as defined in the Elizabethtown College Institutional Assessment Plan.
Institutional Effectiveness
With advice from the Institutional Assessment Advisory Committee, we develop and implement an annual work plan targeting specific areas for assessment. The results of those assessment efforts are used by the respective areas to improve effectiveness and efficiency of programs and services. An annual report disseminated to the campus community summarizes the results of those efforts.
Educational Effectiveness
The Educational Assessment Committee (EAC) was established as a permanent committee in shared governance at the College in April 2011. The primary mission of the EAC is to ensure that student learning is regularly and skillfully assessed and that the results of these assessment activities are used to strengthen educational programs and inform resource allocation across the institution. The EAC also is responsible for ensuring that the College meets the intent and the technical requirements of Middle States Commission on Higher Education, Standard 14.
