College Transition

Leaving home, high school, and everything you know is difficult. Which is why our nationally recognized college transition program was designed to make your experience easier.

First-Year Experience

310px width

This interdisciplinary educational experience develops skills of critical thinking and writing and broadens definitions of learning. The course is a serious academic one, and it is topical in nature, meaning that each seminar has its own emphasis. Our faculty members teach seminars on subjects of passionate interest to them, but no seminar is grounded in a particular major. This is all part of Elizabethtown's commitment to a liberal arts education. We want our students to become well-rounded scholars.

Sophomore Year Experience

Elizabethtown created the SYE to tackle the sense of drift—or "sophomore slump"1—reported by sophomores nationwide. The SYE is designed to ease the transition from the structured programs of the first year to the more independent programs, like internships and research experiences, associated with the junior and senior years.
