Welcome to the Provost and Senior Vice President’s Web Site!

One very common question people ask is, “What is a Provost?” – we hope to answer that question for you as we describe the role of the Provost and Senior Vice President at Elizabethtown College.

The Provost and Senior Vice President is the Chief Academic Officer of the College and acts in place of the President in his absence. The Provost is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the college’s academic policies as well as for oversight of the College’s academic expense budget. As the chief academic officer, the Provost provides oversight for all personnel issues related to the educational program of the College and represents the administration on the Executive Council of the Faculty Assembly and represents the College in its relationship with the Brethren Colleges Abroad (BCA).

The Provost & Senior Vice President is responsible for advising the President on all major matters of resource allocation within the academic areas of the College including construction and other capital projects, space allocation, and distribution of new positions within the faculty. She is the chief planning officer of the College and sits on the Resources and Planning Committee.
