High School Senior Sessions

Elizabethtown College SIFE students are providing lessons to local high school upperclassmen on the following topics:

  • Time Management
  • Budgeting
  • Saving
  • Protecting against Identity Theft
  • Ethics
  • Interviewing
  • Financing College
  • Adjusting to life on your own
  • Planning for the Future
  • Adjusting to life at College

We have successfully given sessions at the Milton Hershey School for the past two years, and are now expanding our lessons to local high schools in the Elizabethtown, PA area! We are interested in working with local high school teachers and administrators to provide our lessons to local students on these important skills. The transition to life after high school can be tough, and we want to help students make this transition with these important skills.

What Are Lessons Like?

Our lessons are tailored to meet the needs of the classes involved. Our members, all college students themselves, can help to provide a peer perspective on the challenges facing high school students, the same challenges college students face every day. Our lessons typically involve a short presentation and lesson, followed by a question and answer period on the topics covered. Finally, we open up the floor to any questions the class wishes to ask our members about their own experiences and the reality of adjusting to college life.

Material is based on research from sources such as HSBC Bank, the Federal Trade Commission, and numerous educational sources.

How Long Does a Lesson Take?

Lessons can be timed to meet class needs. We can either schedule lessons during the school day, or give a presentation after school hours. We will work to design a lesson that meets the needs of all involved.

What Other Resources are Available?

Our team is also planning a unique economics and free trade competition between high schools for next year. Additionally, both of our Ethics DVD's are well suited for starting discussion amongst students about the importance of ethics in the workplace and in everyday life.

Please contact us for information or questions about any of our programs. We are also willing to work with local organizations to give our lessons to even a broader range of individuals.
