To maintain our small class sizes—typically a 14:1 student/faculty ratio—and individualized attention, admission to the International Business program is highly selective. We normally receive 125 applications per year and accept about 25 first-year students.

Application Process:

  • To be considered for the International Business program, you must apply to Elizabethtown College. Specify IB as your intended major on the application form and submit the application with all supporting documentation before March 15. (Applications received after March 15 will only be considered on a space available basis and will not be eligible for Department of Business scholarships.)
  • If you’ve already applied to the College, you may still inform the Office of Admissions of your intended IB major before the deadline of March 15.
  • Once the College has made admissions decisions, the Department of Business faculty will evaluate the files of the students who are interested in IB and are accepted by the College in order to select up to 25 students into the program.

International Business Major Requirements and Degree Planners

Decision Factors:


Have an SAT score of at least 1200


Are in the top 15 percent of your high school class


Have at least 2-3 years of a foreign language in high school


Are interested in some aspect of business


Would like to study abroad and learn more about other countries and cultures

Admission to the international business program does not imply that a student is guaranteed completion of the entire course of study. Generally, a student needs a 3.0 grade point average to qualify for a study abroad program and an internship which are requirements for graduation in this major.

Transfers into the program are permitted from within the College or from other institutions on a space-available basis.
