E-Moment: The Unconventional Museum Director
Terry Kraft ’90 is the Director of the North Science Museum in Lancaster, a local treasure that opens up the wonders of science for children. She is the first director of the museum who doesn’t have a background in education, science, or museum work. How did she find a job that she loves that is serving the community where she lives and works? By continually learning and acquiring new skills. At Elizabethtown College, Terry learned to network through her internship with the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce. She then worked at an event planning firm, two non-profits, and a tech company, where her boss told her: “You don’t have to be the expert…I picked you because you’re a natural leader and you get stuff done.” The North Museum wanted someone who could network, plan events, was tech-savvy, understood non-profit management, and was a leader: in other words, Terry. And behind it all, as she explains, “I was inspired by E-town’s “Educate for Service” mission.” Read more about Terry’s journey at I’d like to hear about your stories of career success and professional accomplishments and how E-town inspired you. Perhaps your story could inspire our students.
