Momentum is a pre-orientation program which takes place 7 days prior to the first day of Fall Orientation. Momentum is a voluntary program at no cost to the student. Invitations are extended to first generation college students (meaning the family is unfamiliar with the college experience), including ALANA students (meaning African American, Latin American, Asian American, Native American), who meet financial eligibility.
HOOT (Honors Outdoor Orientation Trek) is a pre-orientation program for Honors students which happens on the day prior to the first day of Fall Orientation. Students with a combined critical reading and mathematics score of at least 1200 on the SAT (with neither score below 550) or equivalent on another standardized test (TOEFL, ACT) and who rank in the top 10 percent of high school graduating class, who have demonstrated evidence of leadership potential and committed community service are invited to apply for the Honors Program.
All non-immigrant F-1 and J-1 international students both degree seeking and non-degree seeking international students are required to participate in a pre-orientation program which takes place two full days prior to the first day of Fall Orientation. An orientation program is scheduled one week prior to the first day of classes for the fall and spring semesters for high school students enrolled at the College. High school students grades 11-12 may enroll in courses offered by Elizabethtown College. High school students are generally permitted to register in any open, entry-level courses which do not have prerequisites. Each dual enrollment course may count as 1 high school credit. Courses must be taken during the academic year (fall & spring only) for the course to be considered a dual enrollment course. This retreat is a pre-orientation program for students in the Undergraduate Fellows in Ethical Leadership and Service program. The retreat happens one day prior to the first day of Fall Orientation. Students who rank in the top 10 percent of their high school class, have taken a very challenging curriculum, have a combined Critical Reading and Mathematics SAT score of 1150 or an ACT composite score of 25, and display leadership, citizenship and extracurricular achievement receive the Founders Scholarship and are invited into the Undergraduate Fellows in Ethical Leadership and Service. This invitation is also extended to students who receive the Dean's Scholarship which is awarded to students whose high school curriculum is challenging, whose academic record is excellent, who have demonstrated leadership and service backgrounds receive.
