Patrol Division



This division is responsible for regular patrols, providing assistance to members of the campus community, parking and traffic enforcement, and emergency response to criminal activity, medical emergencies, or fire.

The division consists of a Director, Assistant Director,  Lieutenant, and eight full time Campus Security Officers.  The department also has part-time officers on-call for special events.

The officers are authorized to enforce campus regulations and state laws in accordance with the Pennsylvania Crime and Vehicle Codes . The Officers provide around the clock, seven-day-per week protection throughout the year. They wear uniforms and are equipped with the PR-24 batons, or ASP's. They patrol the campus on foot, by bicycle, and in a marked and an unmarked fully equipped patrol vehicle.

High standards have been established for the hiring, conduct, and training of the Officers. Officers attend a 40-hour Pennsylvania Act 235 Lethal Weapons Training Course. They are also certified in the use of the PR-24 baton or the ASP,Basic First Aid, CPR, PPCT, and OC spray. The division also includes the Student Patrol, consisting of student workers who provide assistance with the escort service ,crime prevention, and crowd and parking control during special events.

Communications Division - Dispatchers


This division consists of four full-time A.P.C.O. Certified Telecommunicators, and one part-time dispatcher. They operate a 24-hour communications division responsible for the handling of routine and emergency calls and for acting as an Information Center. The dispatchers also operate the campus emergency telephone system, and the blue light telephones which are strategically located throughout the campus for use during emergencies or to call for a security escort. Additional responsibilities include Fire/EMS monitoring, and Security Camera monitoring.
