Copying Highlight

Basic Copying
Basic copying is standard photocopying with black ink. All jobs more than 500 copies must be sent to Copy Services. In addition, any jobs that require finishing such as booklet making, binding, cutting, or folding should be copied at Copy Services even if they are less than 500 copies
.

Highlight Color Copying
Colored inks can be applied to specific areas of a page creating a bold, opaque area of color, but not in such a way as to imitate photography or other realistic techniques. Select headings or graphics can appear in a second color (red or blue). Highlight color gives the opportunity to add a highly professional image with little added expense. The instant eye-attraction of highlight colors draws attention to titles and vital information such as key dates or points of action. For these purposes it is far superior to bolding, italicizing, and underlining in black on white. Used properly, highlight color can help visually organize your document by linking information and letting the reader focus on the critically important details
.

How to Create Highlight Color
Highlight color copies are created using black on white originals masters. One master must be created for each color. For instance, if you want your document to be black and red, make one original with the information you want to have in black and another original with what you'd like to be in red. Ink colors available are black, Federal blue and Bright red.

Tips for Using Highlight Color
Generally, no more than fifteen percent of the page should be in color.

  • Large solid areas of color and gradient blends do no always reproduce well; use the second color sparingly. Too much of the color dilutes its effectiveness; it should help organize information by attracting attention to areas such as subtitles, summary statements, or sidebar items.
  • Simple color key lines at the top or bottom of the page can be an elegant design touch.
  • Using colored paper with another color ink can create visually pleasing effects for little cost - for example, blue ink on orchid or ivory paper.

* Please note:
Do not select a small word within a line of text to highlight color. The machine is analog and is unable to reproduce accurately enough to do pinpoint highlighting.
