The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry
Elizabethtown College

Welcome to the Web pages for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry
at Elizabethtown College. We are a department of six faculty
members dedicated to teaching chemistry and biochemistry to our
students. We work closely with them to help them develop
their understanding of the subject.
We offer the traditional courses in chemistry and the curriculum for the major culminates in an independent research project. Research is a cornerstone of the scientific disciplines and we give it a high status in our department. Our majors work one-on-one with a faculty member on an original research project that leads to presentations at local and national meetings and to publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
We offer several degrees: Biochemistry, an ACS accredited Chemistry degree, Chemistry - Secondary Education, Chemistry - Management, Chemistry - Forensic Science, and Chemical Physics. Our students go on to graduate school in chemistry and pharmaceutical research, further study in the health professions, and straight into jobs in the chemical industry. We strive to provide our students with a complete and well-rounded education in the field of chemistry that will allow them to excel in any area.
A well-rounded, thorough education in chemistry and a close
interaction with the faculty are the hallmarks of a degree in chemistry
or biochemistry at Elizabethtown College. If this is what you are interested in, please take the time to
