Definition of a Disability
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 guarantees persons with disabilities access to programs, services, and activities. A person with a disability
- Has a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities including walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning, and working; a physical impairment includes a physiological condition, disfigurement or anatomical loss; a mental impairment includes cognitive and psychological or psychiatric condition
- has a record of such an impairment; or
- is regarded as having such an impairment
