Removing Symantec AntiVirus on Mac OS X
Upon graduation the AntiVirus program (Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition [SAV]), which the College required, may be removed from your computer.
To remove SAV:
- Preferred - Uninstaller
- At your desktop, double click your Macintosh HD, or local hard-drive.
- Under Places, navigate to your Applications Folder.
- Scroll down until you find the folder titled "Symantec Solutions" and double-click it.
- Then, double-click on "Symantec Uninstaller".
- At the prompt questioning what products you would like to uninstall, check Symantec AntiVirus Corporate, and Norton AntiVirus (which should also automatically select Auto-Protect).
- Once all are checked, press the Uninstall button.
- When prompted about deleting the software, proceed by clicking Uninstall again.
- Mac OS X will ask for an administrator's password. Verify the username and enter your local machine's account password, if you have one.
- Removal of the program will progress, and at the conclusion of the uninstallation, a system log will appear.
- Click Close and then press Restart, so your system can finish its required tasks.
