Types of Connections:

Option #1

The “ETOWN_USER” access is the most desirable and requires a one-time setup.  (Connection instructions provided below.)
-Access to public and private folders is possible.
-Network drives can be mapped.
-Users maintain the exact access privileges as their normal wired connection.
-The connection is secure and data transmission is encrypted.
-Printing is possible and the same as the wired connection
-Maximum bandwidth to the Internet is available.
-A JAYNET username/password is REQUIRED to connect to this system.

Option #2
The “Guest” is the least desirable connection method.
-Access is limited solely to the Internet.
-Access to network home directories is not possible.
-The connection is not secure and data transmission is not encrypted.
-Printing is not possible.
-Bandwidth to the internet is limited to 1 Megabit.
-A guest username/password is REQUIRED to connect to this system.

Unsecured GUEST access is available only to guests of Elizabethtown College (and requires a username/password from ITS). However, utilizing the unsecured GUEST access, the user will not be able to access the network folders.  Following are the instructions for configuring Guest_Access secured network.

In order to access the network folders and other resources, users will need to connect to the ETOWN_USER secured network. Following are the instructions for configuring ETOWN_USER secured network.

Please note that the technology used for the ETOWN_USER secured network is relatively new. You will need to download the newest drivers for your wireless network card in order to complete the process. For your convenience, the following is a list of links to web sites where you can download the appropriate driver.

In order to access the network drives over the ETOWN_USER secured network, you will need to run the Map Network Drives program. This program can be downloaded here. (Save the file to your desktop for future use.)

The following links are only available on-campus.

If you would like to print to printers in the High Library, please follow these instructions.
Should you have a problem with configuring the ETOWN_USER secure network, Help Desk assistants are available to help troubleshoot problems and can be reached at x3333.

Please note that it is against the Computer Use Policy to operate personal wireless access points within the campus network. Doing so will also cause interference and will slow connection speeds on college-owned access points.
