The Center for Global Citizenship
International Programs
Today cultural boundaries are blurring and the world is becoming increasingly interconnected. To help our students develop an appreciation of our global culture, the International Programs Office, located in the Center for Global Citizenship, encourages and facilitates study-abroad experiences for our U.S. students and provides a support network for international students who elect to study here.
Our international programs provide students with opportunities that expand their worldviews by immersing them in other cultures. Students participate in semester or year-long study-abroad opportunities, volunteer, internship and work programs overseas, and short-term faculty-led programs during the May term, summer, and winter or spring breaks. Approximately 10-14% of the student body participates in some type of overseas experience each year.
Every semester, the College also opens its doors to international students from around the world. Studying side-by-side with their U.S. counterparts, these student ambassadors bring a new perspective and awareness to the College. Elizabethtown is the educational home to students from more than 20 countries and six continents.
In conjunction with the Office of Civic Engagement, and with other offices on campus, the International Programs Office strives to educate global citizens.
Students who participate in International Programs at Elizabethtown College:
-
Learn from a variety of outstanding internationally-engaged faculty
-
Develop an ability to think critically about global issues and problems
-
Act with intercultural competence and global sensitivity, on campus and around the world
