PSYCHOLOGY INTERNSHIPS
Students in our department have gained practical experience at a number of internship sites near Elizabethtown. The departmental advisor for internships is Dr. Paul Dennis. Dr. Dennis works with students to find an internship that best fits their interests and career goals. Here is a listing of internships that Elizabethtown College psychology students have held in the past:
Psychiatric treatment centers:
- Bell Socialization: Aid in providing psychosocial rehabilitation to individuals with psychiatric issues or mental retardation.
- Philhaven: Work with mental health technicians providing care and treatment to a wide variety of individuals in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
- Lancaster Community Services: Aid with Mental health & chemical dependency counseling and medical checks.
- Manos House: Work with mental health professional in this program, which provides long term residential, drug and alcohol, treatment. Treatment consists of group, family, individual, psychoeducational and music therapy.
- Crisis Intervention of Lancaster: Suicide Prevention is a major focus of Crisis Intervention. Crisis Intervention can assist in assessing what a person needs to alleviate the immediate crisis and then link an individual to services.
Research with neurological and psychiatric populations:
- Hershey Medical Center: research positions both human and animal populations; working with neuropsychologists in research and clinical positions
- Lebanon Veteran's Administration: psychiatric hospital
- Masonic Homes: troubled adolescents or elderly populations
