| Professional Presenations The Psychology department places a strong emphasis on empirical research because it encourages students to develop critical and creative thinking skills. During their upper-levels courses, all students pursue novel and independent research. Many students also choose to pursue collaborate research with faculty outside of class. Every year, students and faculty present their research at national and regional professional conferences and a number of students have received awards for their high quality work.
