Welcome to Living & Learning at Elizabethtown College!
Three classes within the First Year Seminar program will be designated as living learning communities for the upcoming academic year. These three courses have the exciting opportunity to live together in Founders residence hall and learn together in the classroom.
One of the three courses is open to all Elizabethtown College students:
- Simple Living
Instructor: Dr. Michelle Kozimor-King
Two of the courses are desiganted for students enrolled in the Honors Program:
- Gotta Have It - Explaining the Science of Addiction
Instructor: Dr. Thomas Hagan
- Big Philosophical Questions:
Instructor: Professor Tracy Sadd
Students who enroll in any one of these three courses are automatically enrolled in the residential living learning community. Students in the Gotta Have It and Big Philosophical Questions courses will live together on one floor. Students in the Simple Living course will live with a mix of their classmates and other first year students not enrolled in the course.
This residential community will allow students to live with a group of students with similar interests. Students will have a support network of RAs, Peer Mentors, Residence Life staff, and faculty to aid them with any issues or needs that arise. Most importantly, the students on these floors will have the opportunity for deeper learning and a closer relationship with their faculty.
Students in an LLC will be housed in traditional double rooms in Founders residence hall which was completely renovated in 2003. The RA will serve as a resource and mentor for the students on the floor. The RA will meet individually with students on the floor to offer support and guidance in the transition to College. A floor lounge has been created for the students on the floor to use as a meeting place for casual conversation, study groups with professors, or programs sponsored by the Resident Assistant.
