Head Coach: Kathy Staib

The 2009 season will mark the sixth as head coach for Kathy Staib, who has led the Blue Jays to 53 wins in her first five years on the Etown bench.

She took over as head coach of the softball program in November 2003 after two years as an assistant. In each of the last two years, the Blue Jays have participated in the Commonwealth Conference playoffs, including a championship game appearance in 2008.

She was named the Commonwealth Conference Coach of the Year in 2007 after guiding Elizabethtown to the semifinal round of the conference playoffs. As an assistant coach, the Blue Jays set a program record for most wins in a season with 30 in 2002 and finished as the Commonwealth Conference runners-up in 2003 and 2008.

Formerly the Senior Program Coordinator for Greater Elizabethtown Area Recreation and Community Services (GEARS), Staib joined the Elizabethtown College community full-time in August 2004 when she became the Athletics Department's Administrative Assistant. In 2005, she became an Assistant Director of Athletics for Elizabethtown College.

Staib is also the Women's Fastpitch District 2 Deputy Commissioner for the Amateur Softball Association (ASA). Prior to taking the assistant coaching position at Etown, Staib had served as the head softball coach of the Conoy Athletic Association and of Lancaster Country Day School. She had also been an assistant coach for Donegal High School and Lancaster Country Day School.

As a player, Staib has participated in twelve Class "A" ASA National Tournaments, and she played varsity softball at Lock Haven University and Bloomsburg Area High School. An alumna of Lock Haven, she graduated with a B.S. in Recreation with an option in Leisure Management and earned a M.S. in Sports Management - Intercollegiate Athletic Administration in August 2008 from California University of Pennsylvania.
