"The Elizabethtown Blue Jays"
(Written by an inspired teammate on the eve of the Final Four)
The word on the street is that there's this team of Blue Jays,
they have come together and proved themselves in many ways.
They have become one and are strong, and have reached the top,
and their determination and heart is something no one can ever stop.
They have gone farther than they ever could conceive,
but in each other they trust and in each other they believe.
What this team has done words just cannot say,
they deserve all they get for the hard work they do each day.
What I have heard is there are seven leaders who have guided this team from day one,
not one more important than the other and their fellow Jays love them for all they've done.
Two defenders who are humble, intense and can stand with the best,
and a center-mid whose corners make fools of the rest.
One captain of three, whose spirit and energy inspires the team,
the fifth is a back and a mid who without this would be but a dream.
A forward whose quickness and endurance stun the defense as I recall,
and last but not least one whose heart and love have touched them all.
The next four are juniors but leaders on the pitch,
in desire and in determination they are to say the least rich.
The first is a keeper who defends their net with courage and soul,
a forward whose unselfishness has contributed to their goal.
A captain with skill and knowledge of the game,
and lastly on whose presence and humor are essential, I won't mention her name.
The next group of players is the largest in number and will,
they fight to win for their teammates whose dreams they can fulfill.
The first who has been fearless and invincible, she is their sweep,
and a stopper whose talent and desire to succeed run deep.
A forward who without fail continues to put the ball in the net,
and one who is injured; her hunger to play has not been broken yet.
A second forward whose speed and left foot was a gift from heaven,
and outside-mid with grace and uncountable moves, I think 311.
The third of forwards, one without grace but with enormous talent with the ball,
the fourth also a newcomer, her hustle and ability enables her to beat them all.
The third rookie who is one of four,
her patience and composure allow the Jays to score.
And now with one who is strong and unstoppable in the air,
we challenge any team, take us on if you dare!
The last three are the frosh who have stepped up and contributed to the dream,
they are the future of this Elizabethtown team.
Another keeper whose play in goal is shown ideally,
a mid whose fresh moves are unbeatable, really.
A forward who burns people down the touch line,
these three will be great when it comes their time.
This team of Blue Jays, what can I say,
with desire and talent is how they play.
They are one and can never be divided,
teammates they are, for each other this dream they have provided.
For the fight song they sing is not only a force,
it is their future and destiny, it is their course.
They have taken the stand and the cheers thunderously echo,
they stand behind each other and yell like hell as they go.
They fight for every score till the bitter end,
and their backs impassable, with strength they defend.
They have the power and confidence to take on anyone they meet,
they can roll anyone in the mud, turf, rain, snow or sleet.
This weekend give it all your might,
go out there Jays and fight team fight!!
you are already winners through and through - that is something no one can take away.
