I will be attending the Earle Mack School of Law at Drexel University in the fall, and I owe many of the skills that made me a strong law school candidate to the History department at Elizabethtown College. As a History major you learn how to analytically read and dissect a text, which is an essential skill to have as a law student. Throughout the course of my college career, I was also able to develop my ability to express clear, articulate thoughts both orally and in writing. Both set of skills will be important in law school. The wide variety of courses offered by the department allowed me to explore multiple aspects of history, including my personal favorite, European History. With the help of Dr. Newsome I was able to present my paper “Romantic Period Notions of Women in the Grimms Brothers Fairytales” in front of my peers at Scholarship and Creative Arts Day. The genuine interest of the faculty in my success, and the skills that they have taught me throughout my four years at college, have made me a confident person academically, and ready for whatever challenges law school may throw my way!
