My internship at the Winter’s Heritage House Museum in Elizabethtown was an invaluable experience. It was my first introduction to museum work, and I gained a firmer understanding of how a museum functions without the added stress of being overwhelmed by the hustle of a museum in a bigger city. Working at the Heritage House allowed me to learn how to organize indices and utilize computer programs to keep digital records of all the artifacts that the museum has acquired. My classes at Elizabethtown College have also helped me understand the context in which these artifacts were created. Knowing the social constructs of the era of origin and the purposes of the artifacts themselves makes handling them all the more exciting.
