Areas of Study in Theatre
The Elizabethtown College Department of Fine and Performing Arts' Division of Theatre and Dance offers a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre.
The Theatre curriculum is based on a liberal arts foundation, requiring a series of Theatre Core courses followed by a concentration in either Performance or Theatre Technology. Students have multiple opportunities to enhance classroom training with practical experiences.
The Department also offers a Theatre minor, with either a Minor Performance track or a Minor Technical track.
The Elizabethtown dance program, through the Fine and Performing Arts Department's Theatre and Dance Division, offers classes in which both trained and untrained dancers can develop skills, a movement vocabulary and body awareness. Students may participate in two levels of ballet classes, jazz dance classes, and an Introduction to Modern Dance course.
They will be exposed to dance technique, conditioning, dance history and the creative process.
The 38x39 foot studio has a Marley dance floor, floor-to-ceiling mirrors on two walls of the space and seven ballet barres.
The dance studio is also home to Elizabethtown's largest student-run club, Emotion. Emotion, established more than 10 years ago, performs once a semester featuring student choreography.
