SYMPHONIC BAND

The Symphonic Band is the premier wind and percussion ensemble at Elizabethtown College, performing a wide variety of quality musical literature. Membership in the Symphonic Band is available to students of every academic major. No audition is required. The Symphonic Band rehearses twice per week and performs a concert on campus each semester. COLLEGE-COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA

The College-Community Orchestra is the premier wind, string and percussion ensemble at Elizabethtown College, performing a wide variety of quality musical literature for both string orchestra and full orchestra. Membership in the Orchestra is available to all qualified students. There is no audition required for community and college string players; community and college woodwind, brass and percussion players gain membership to the orchestra with permission from the conductor. The Orchestra rehearses twice per week and performs a concert on campus each semester. JAZZ ENSEMBLE

The Jazz Ensemble is a long-standing Elizabethtown College tradition, offering students instruction in the basic skills of improvisation, stylization and performance. The Jazz Ensemble explores and performs a repertoire ranging from classic ragtime to modern jazz. The Jazz ensemble rehearses once per week and performs concerts both on campus and throughout the local area. Membership in the Jazz Ensemble is available to all qualified students. CHAMBER ENSEMBLES

Performance in chamber ensembles is important to the total musical growth and development of Elizabethtown College’s instrumental music students. Chamber groups at Elizabethtown are coached by faculty members, each one a skilled artist, teacher and performer. Students may choose among the Arioso Flute Choir, Brass Ensemble, Mixed Winds Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Horn Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble, Saxophone Ensemble, Piano Ensemble, String Quartet and the “Etown Congueros” hand drumming ensemble.
