>> Pontoon and Console Construction Update

February 9, 2008

Check out the latest pictures of our console and some new development on the pontoons. We are currently preforming research on pontoon shapes and which would be best for our boat. To do this we are making 1:12 scale models.

See the models here Pontoon Models .

See the latest progress on the console here Console .

We will try our best to keep this up to date to keep everyone in the loop. A specail thanks goes out to Jackie Westman for helping put this together.

November 11, 2007

As progress is had on the Elizabethtown Solar Boat (dubbed the eBoat for short) we developed an icon to repersent our burning passion for the games.

>> Into the Streets with Club FEAST

November 5, 2007

On Saturday four FEAST members participated in the annual 'Into the Streets' event held by Elizabethtown College as way to reach out to the community and give back. Mike Patrick organized the event with Justin Hypnarowski, Doug Eroh, Austin DeMarco, and Breann Horst. They taught four 30 minutes sections the wonders of physics with 7 fun demos.

"I really had a lot of fun teaching the kids about something I'm personally interested in" said Justin Hypnarowski.

Check out our gallery page to see some pictures from the event.

>>New Members, Welcome!

July 28, 2007

Hey there curious readers! Club FEAST is currently searching for new members. We are a campus club from various backgrounds, majors, and talents. Club FEAST is concerned with research and development of applications using renewable energy. Over the past two years we have grown from 3 members to 13 and expect to expand even more this year. We believe this success is attributed to our unique projects. Our most recent project was Solar Splash 2007 , where we competed in the World Intercollegiate Solar Electric Boat Competition. If you want to know how we did visit our eBoat news feed . This coming academic school year, we are planning various projects in which all majors are needed. If you are interested in the club, stop by one of our weekly meetings or contact one of our club officers. See you soon!

>>Solar Splash Results

June, 20 2007

Five students from the student club FEAST – Garry Brock, Mike Patrick, Doug Eroh, John Artieda Romero, and Liz Prettner – traveled with advisor Troy McBride to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in Solar Splash, the five-day 2007 World Intercollegiate Solar Electric Boat Competition. The team, competing against larger universities, finished 12th out of 19 registered teams, scoring a total of 488 points – an improvement of 140 points over their 2005 performance. The team finished 11th in the Solar Endurance competition, 7th in the Maneuvering qualifying event, tied for 4th for Visual Display, and tied for 9th for their Technical Report. The team’s boat, which can cruise at 5 mph all day in sunny weather while carrying up to six people, won the award for “Most Commercially Viable Hull.”

>>Club FEAST and the Solar Cabin

Fall 06'

Over the last year the engineering department in cooperation with Club FEAST have nearly completed the Solar Cabin. The Solar cabin project is supervised by Professor Troy McBride from the Physics and Engineering department. Over the last few months Professor McBride with students Justin Hypnarowski and David Coleman have been in communication with leading semiconductor company Cypress. During several informative phone meetings Cypress worked with us and helped us navigate the needs of the solar cabin. They offered some of their equipment including: PSoC controller kits and eight of the highest efficiency solar panels available commercially! The Engineering and Physics department, Club FEAST, and all the members involved are thankful for all of Cypress's help and donations. We hope that the total success of this project will carry over to future projects to come!
