10-30-11 Snow/Power Updates

Update 2:00 p.m.

Power has been restored on campus. All buildings normally accessible on Sunday afternoons are open. Classes will resume on Monday at 8 a.m. as scheduled. Please continue to exercise caution when walking on campus-snow melt will refreeze at night and may make walking treacherous. The College thanks students for their patience and spirit of cooperation over the past two days.

Update 10:45 a.m.

PPL has now estimated that power will be restored on campus by 7 p.m. tonight. The situation is being monitored throughout the day by the College's Emergency Management Group. Both the BSC and Marketplace are open and meals are being served. Students are reminded to be cautious when moving around campus due to falling snow and tree branches. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

10-29-11 Snow Updates

Update 8 p.m.

Power is estimated to return tomorrow at 10 am. Transformer blew on Cedar Street. Fire alarms in Ober and Myer were activated to ensure residents' safety. Residents of Schreiber Quads AND SLDCs should report to BSC with blankets and flashlights (if available). Dress warmly. Other campus residents should remain in residence halls and are reminded that burning candles is prohibited.

Update 5 p.m.

All events scheduled for this evening, Saturday, October 29, are cancelled. The Marketplace is open for dinner. Students are encouraged to leave their residence halls ONLY for the evening meal. The College will continue to assess the power outage, is regularly monitoring weather conditions and will provide additional information as it becomes available.

Update 4:30 p.m.

Power outage across campus is being assessed. Students are asked to remain indoors. Serious threat to personal safety exists due to heavy snow, falling trees and branches. addiitonal information will be provided as it becomes available.
