Elizabethtown College Homecoming Weekend
Colorful leaves, apple cider, knockwurst and bratwurst—these are the elements of a perfect homecoming weekend at Elizabethtown College. October 19-21 marks the annual Homecoming and Family Weekend with several days of good food, great friends and fun times. A comprehensive schedule of family activities, performances, athletic contests, alumni reunions and dining events is available online.

Highlights of the Homecoming and Family Weekend include:
Friday, October 19; noon-5 p.m.-Homecoming Parade Float-Building Party at the Elizabethtown Fair Grounds. The student groups of Elizabethtown will build their best possible floats to represent this year’s parade theme – Holidays and Celebrations.
Friday, October 19; 9 p.m. – Mad Cow Improv Homecoming Show – Gibble Auditorium, Esbenshade Wing of the Master Center. Laugh ‘til you drop with Elizabethtown’s student improvisation comedy group.
Saturday, October 20; 11 a.m.-18th annual Homecoming Parade (Hickory Lane to Willow Street to Spruce Street to College Avenue). This family-friendly event features floats, performing bands and classic cars…plus plenty of candy for the crowd.
Saturday, October 20; noon-3 p.m. - College alumni are invited to join the 9th annual alumni Oktoberfest Party at the Raffensperger Alumni House. The all-you-can-eat event features the best of Oktoberfest fare – including bratwurst, knockwurst, E-town Apfelstrüdel and more.
Saturday, October 20, noon-4 p.m. – the Homecoming Fair located on the Academic Quad, features Elizabethtown student groups selling a variety of knick-knacks, food, art, t-shirts and crafts.
Saturday, October 20, 2 p.m. - Doug Block’s documentary “The Kids Grow Up” will be screened in the Brinser Lecture Room located in Steinman Center. The piece follows the film-maker’s daughter during her last year at home before leaving for college, and explores the ups and downs of letting a child go, perhaps before anyone is ready.
Saturday, October 20, 3 p.m. - Department of Political Science “Decision 2012: Alumni, Faculty and Students Political Debate” – Gibble Auditorium, Esbenshade Wing of the Masters Center. This spirited debate will focus on topics relevant to the upcoming presidential election.
Saturday, October 20, 4:30 p.m.- Blue Jay Men’s Soccer vs. Lebanon Valley College and the Annual Halftime Homecoming Court Presentation – Ira R. Herr Field. Watch the official game ball be delivered in a completely new way before the men’s soccer team takes on Coach Charlie Grimes ’97 and the Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen. Enjoy the Homecoming Court festivities at half-time.
Sunday, October 21, 1 p.m. - Blue Jay Athletics Hall of Fame Luncheon and Awards Ceremony – The KĀV, Brossman Commons. Be a part of Blue Jay Athletics history at this special event. The Blue Jay Athletic Association will induct some of E-town’s finest athletes into the Ira R. Herr Athletic Hall of Fame, including Marci Grossman ’93, Mike Schlotterbeck ’95, Kristy Wade ’00 and Susan Craig Wood ’63 and the members and coaches of the 2002 Blue Jay men’s basketball team, as well as Coach Yvonne “Yonnie” Kauffman H’12.
