McClure, Mitchell and Reed to present
Justin McClure of the David F. McClure Group of companies; Michael Mitchell, formerly of Amelia’s Grocery Outlet; and John Reed of Barley Snyder Attorneys at Law will present January 24 at Elizabethtown College. Justin McClure is president of David F. McClure Group of companies providing, residential and industrial mechanical contracting services with core competencies in HVAC, geothermal and solar systems; servicing residential and industrial clients within the mid-Atlantic area. Under Justin’s leadership, the company has been recognized in the top one percent of the nation for residential heating and cooling companies based on customer satisfaction and continuing education. In 2010, Justin initiated and oversaw the acquisition of a commercial industrial mechanical services provider O.L. Jacobs, further diversifying their family business, including building automation and control strategies; sheet metal fabrication; commercial plumbing and electric; and energy management and industrial automation.
Michael Mitchell was an owner of Amelia’s Grocery Outlets and served as president and CEO of the company from 1997- 2012. He oversaw all aspects of the grocery chain’s $50 million dollar business and a 100,000 square foot warehouse in Leola, Pa. Michael, his father Melvin, and his brother-in-law Jeff, grew the business and expanded the concept from a couple of small Weaver Chicken Outlets into a full line grocery outlet chain. The business was sold January 2012 to a private equity firm, Berkshire Partners and Grocery Outlet Inc., a 160 store chain based in Berkley, CA. Michael is a graduate of Elizabethtown College and holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. Michael was a recent recipient of the Vistage International Leadership Award and was the 2010 Lancaster Chamber Small business person of the year.
John T. Reed is a partner with the law firm Barley Snyder. He chairs the Business Law Practice Group. John’s practice is concentrated in general corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, business start-ups and formations, contract negotiation, and counseling on family-owned business issues such as succession planning and buy-sell agreements. Barley Snyder is one of the founding members and a current corporate sponsor of the S. Dale High Family Business Center at Elizabethtown College. John leads the firm’s efforts at the Center and is a frequent speaker and a regular resource for the Center. John earned his bachelor’s of science degree from Penn State University, his MBA from the University of Wyoming and his law degree from Duquesne University of Law (cum laude). Prior to joining the firm, John was a captain in the U.S. Air Force.
