EdRef.com-- "Free online college directory providing information on more than 7,000 US colleges and trade schools. EdRef.com tries to present unbiased information on substantially all of the colleges in the country."
GoAbroad.com-- Excellent and large site "committed to providing the most comprehensive international education and alternative travel databases... [a] one-stop information center for students wishing to travel internationally... In addition to some of the largest directories of their kind on the Internet, GoAbroad.com provides extensive additional information within its dynamically constructed Travel Guides, currency converter, and Embassy directories."
Higher Education and Research Opportunities in the United Kingdom-- "Official gateway site to the UK's universities, colleges and research organisations." This excellent, large, comprehensive, and searchable portal contains six zones "covering all aspects of higher education opportunities" in the UK, plus news and features.
Hobsons Study UK-- "Your complete guide to the UK study experience," an informational site for students to provide everything one needs to know about studying in the UK-- lifestyle, levels of study, courses, institutions, and application procedures for all study levels.
Institute of International Education -- A world-class source on study abroad, IIE conducts statistical and policy research and provides information on international study and work opportunities. A large, searchable site with numerous publications online, including about the USIA Fulbright Program. Their Open Doors section contains much online information about international student mobility in the United States and the world. The IIE Passport is a well-refined search engine for thousands of IIE study abroad program listings, from many organizations, to match user needs and interests closely with programs, plus other content about US education programs abroad.
InternAbroad.com-- "Search for paid and volunteer, academic and non-academic internships, as well as college credit practical training programs around the world," plus travel guides and embassy search directory.
International Funding Database Search-- From the International Programs Office of The Pennsylvania State University, a website "designed to assist faculty, staff, and graduate students in their search for funding sources external to the University for international research, teaching, and service," with searchable "comprehensive information on 175 agencies that support international research and activities for a wide range of disciplines and purposes." Quite useful as well for persons at other American institutions of higher education.
Language Course Finder-- "The largest online directory of language courses and language schools worldwide" to "find the right language school by using search criteria that is important to you," with much information related to language learning in a large and easily searched database and linkage network.
LanguageSchoolsGuide.com-- "Resource for international language schools. Search through study abroad programs and language schools by language and country." From GoAbroad.com.
Office of Career Services, Harvard College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences has a very helpful site that gives practical information on study and work abroad. Note especially the great PDF brochures on overseas travel advice and work abroad. Also take advantage of the tips in the Global Opportunities section and in the Harvard University International Travel Handbook For Research, Study, Internships and Service.

Studyabroad.com-- A major directory for study abroad information, to search programs by country, time of year, experiential, college, high school, language, etc. Includes listings for thousands of study abroad programs in more than 100 countries throughout the world, travel information, and pictures. Also provides related travel, health, and safety information and the very useful online manual It's Your World: Student's Guide to Education Abroad as well as other guides.
Study Abroad Directory-- "Search through thousands of international academic programs, university study abroad programs, overseas universities, and language schools around the world," plus related information.
Study Abroad Domain-- "Created to help make the process of planning a study abroad experience easier." Covers a wide range, including choosing the length of a study abroad experience, joining an international volunteer or work-study program, being well-prepared for an overseas trip, and choosing the most exciting and educational location to visit.
TeachAbroad.com-- "The directory for teaching positions around the world. Search through educational opportunities, paid and volunteer international teaching positions."
VolunteerAbroad.com-- "The directory for international volunteer programs. Search through thousands of volunteer programs around the world."
VolunteerInternational.org-- Searchable directory and information from the International Volunteer Programs Association, "an alliance of nonprofit, non-governmental organizations based in North America, that are involved in international volunteer and internship exchanges." Projects are sorted by world region, country, type of work, and duration. Note the helpful page on Recommended Resources about volunteering overseas.
WorldWide Classroom-- A "library of international programs," including universities, adult enrichment, foreign language immersion, teen camps,volunteerism, internships, and cultural, craft and heritage programs. You can find schools and programs worldwide, get news and student comments about the schools and countries, and plan your travel there.
• AFS Intercultural Programs-- "A non-profit volunteer based educational organization offering exchanges for students, young adults and teachers in over 50 countries around the world." Open to applicants from many countries, for exchange among many countries, with offices in many countries, accessible through this site.
• All About College-- Thousands of links to colleges and universities around the world, including the admissions office e-mail addresses for most, organized by country.
• All About Grad School-- Comprehensive directory of graduate schools in the United States.
• American Institute For Foreign Study-- Organizes intercultural exchanges worldwide.
• Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs-- "Comprises 34 member schools in North America, Asia and Europe dedicated to the improvement of professional education in international affairs and the advancement thereby of international understanding, prosperity, peace, and security." Information about APSIA and its member schools and affiliates.
• Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada-- Information on Canadian higher education and exchange and study abroad opportunities in that country.
• Australian Graduate-- Searchable "comprehensive guide to university courses in Australia."
• Braintrack-- Index of links to the higher education institutions of the world, by continent and country.
• Brethren Colleges Abroad-- Provides fully accredited study abroad opportunities for either a semester or an academic year in ten countries. Courses, calendar year, and subsequent transcripts are compatible with most American colleges and universities.
• College Board-- Information about the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), required for admission by many American colleges and universities, and about preparing for American college admission generally.

• College and University Rankings-- From the Education and Social Science Library, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, links to many services ranking U.S. institutions of higher education, with notes and discussion of the controversy about the practice.
• Council on International Educational Exchange-- A nonprofit, nongovernmental organization, one of the world's leading international exchange programs services for study and work abroad.
• Council for International Exchange of Scholars-- From the private organization that works with the U.S. government in administering the Fulbright Scholar Program, information on Fulbright awards, for both American faculty and professionals seeking to go overseas and non-U.S. faculty and professionals seeking to go to the U.S.
• Education UK-- Searchable website "produced by the British Council to help international students interested in studying for a UK course or qualification."
• EduFrance-- "The gateway to higher education in France," from the National Education, Research and Technology Ministry and the Foreign Office, with information on the French educational system, catalog of educational programs, student magazine, support services for study in France, more.
• eduPASS-- Focuses on what an international student needs to know about studying and living in the United States, from FinAid!, "The Smart Student Guide to Financial Aid."
• Experiment in International Living-- An international nonprofit organization promoting intercultural learning through homestays, educational group travel, study abroad, language training, au pair, and other cultural immersion programs in many countries.
• Financial Times Business School Rankings-- From the Financial Times of London, rankings of business programs worldwide, especially MBA programs--"the best management programmes available."
• Fulbright Web-- "Online community bringing together Fulbrighters and the program's professional support network worldwide," a joint partnership of the Institute of International Education, the Council for International Exchange of Scholars, Commissions/US Embassy Public Diplomacy Sections worldwide, and the United States Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. • German Academic Exchange Service-- The main German sponsor of student and professor exchange between Germany and other countries, internationalization of education, promotion of German studies overseas, and German educational cooperation with developing countries-- the best source on study, research, and teaching in Germany, with information on and applications for each program.
• Gradschools.com-- Very comprehensive and searchable source of information about graduate schools in the United States. See their International Graduate Programs site for graduate programs elsewhere in the world.
• iAgora-- A meeting place for internationally-minded people, particularly those living outside their home country, with opportunitities to exchange travel, living, cultural, work, and study information with other "internationals."
• International Education Site-- Comprehensive guide to international education information and opportunities for students worldwide who are considering studying abroad.
• International Student.com-- "The premier Internet resource providing comprehensive information to international students. At this site you will find advice, useful links, scholarships, grants and other information to assist students in their quest to study abroad."
• International Student Travel Confederation-- "Network of the world's leading student travel specialists... promoting the cause of student travel for over 50 years. This network of 5000 student travel organisations spans over 100 countries." Site gives information and advice on international travel for students and about the very useful International Student Identity Card.
• IPEDS College Opportunities On-Line -- From the National Center for Education Statistics of the U.S. Department of Education, a searchable data bank of information on over 9,000 colleges and universities in the United States, with links to their Web sites.
• MBA Info-- Information on "over 2800 MBA degree programs from over 1400 universities, business schools and management colleges in 140 countries worldwide." Aims to be "the world's most comprehensive MBA program database."
• MBA Programs-- Worldwide directory of MBA programs and business schools that includes admission tips, scholarship links, and glossary of terms.

• StudyOverseas.com-- Comprehensive information for students worldwide who are considering study in another country-- databases of colleges seeking international students, college search facilities, chat, discussions, newsletter, country advice, and articles from leading journals on international education.
• Study in Scotland-- Searchable web site "produced by the British Council to help international students interested in studying for a Scottish course or qualification."

It is also the official U.S. national education information center. This large site provides many links to authoritative sources of information about U.S. and foreign education systems, including a foreign country database.

Power search with comprehensive listings of state and private universities and colleges, community colleges, accredited institutes, and non-traditional programs. Search by state and/or major field of study." Also offers travel resources and tools, plus scholarship and student loan searches.
• World Learning-- A leading group of organizations promoting international educational exchange, including the School for International Training, College Semester Abroad, the Experiment in International Living, Executive English, U.S. Language Homestays, Professional Development Training, and Projects in International Development and Training.
• Association of Voluntary Service Organisations-- A European consortium of organizations offering opportunities for full-time, longer-term (3 to 18 months) voluntary service abroad.
• Careers in International Affairs-- Useful short directory of sources from Net-Savvy's International Affairs.
• Cross-Cultural Solutions-- Non-profit American volunteer organization that works to empower local communities, foster cultural sensitivity and understanding, and contribute grassroots solutions to the global challenges of providing health care, education, and social development. Short and long-term volunteer placements are available in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe.

• EscapeArtist.com-- An aid to moving overseas, including jobs resources, country guides, articles, a monthly magazine, overseas real estate, overseas homesteading, investment and job opportunities, and related resources.
• ESLworldwide.com-- Worldwide Internet company for job seekers interested in teaching English and other foreign languages, with resume and jobs available postings, career information, organization profiles by country, forum, etc.
• Fulbright Teacher and Administrator Exchange-- Sponsored by the United States Department of State, this program arranges direct one-to-one classroom exchanges to over thirty countries for teachers at the elementary, secondary, two-year, and four-year college levels. Administrators can participate in six-week shadowing experiences in nine different countries.
• Global Volunteer Network-- Non-profit organization in New Zealand that places international volunteers in community projects in developing countries to support the work of local community organizations for "local solutions to local problems."
• Idealist-- From Action Without Borders, the global clearinghouse of nonprofit and volunteering resources, listing over 40,000 nonprofit and community organizations in 165 countries, searchable by name, location or mission, with much information on volunteer opportunities. Also has a large Nonprofit Career Center, with hundreds of job and internship listings.
• International Jobs-- Excellent site from the Dickinson College Career Center, with practical information and tips about international employment.
• International Jobs-- A really outstanding site on the topic by Dr. Katharine S. Brooks, Director, Liberal Arts Career Services, University of Texas at Austin, with categories on background information, job search strategies, short term experiences, international careers, country-by-country information, and more.
• International Professor Exchange-- From the Office of International Programs and the Information Technology Systems Division of the University of North Carolina Wilmington, a free "Web site where professors with similar teaching/research positions interested in a teaching/research exchange can list and find each other... for short term or longer term job exchanges between universities around the world."
• i-to-i-- A leading volunteer travel and TEFL training organization to develop people and share cultures with quality training and worthwhile volunteer projects around the world for people of all ages and all backgrounds.
• OverseasJobs.com-- Resources for international employment and work abroad, featuring a job database searchable by keywords or locations.
