English Department Facilities

As an English major, you’ll explore literature, write essays, craft poetry and prose, and even venture into the digital applications of writing. Take advantage of our English department facilities to accomplish more and grow professionally.

Wenger Center

This historic building – one of the oldest on campus – houses our Humanities faculty offices, as well as the English department mailboxes. Some English classes are held in the conference rooms on the top floors.

Digital Humanities Hub

Located in Wenger, this space is dedicated to furthering Digital Humanities research and scholarship. It contains a book scanner, Macs & PCs, and video and audio recording equipment suitable for a variety of projects. The Hub is available to all humanities students, including English majors. Nicarry Hall

Most English classes are held in the recently remodeled classrooms of Nicarry Hall. With new projectors and interactive whiteboards, the rooms are capable of supporting any type of presentation or lecture. Nicarry also contains a printing station on the first floor, equipped with three computers and a Print Release Station for convenient web printing.

Bowers Writers House

Located at the edge of campus just down the road from Founders Hall, the Bowers Writers House is a venue for the creative arts here at Elizabethtown. It hosts a variety of events including poetry and fiction readings, craft talks with authors, and panel discussions with professors and guest lecturers.

The Etownian Newsroom at Steinman Hall

If you have an interest in journalism, then you may want to gain experience writing for our campus newspaper, the Etownian. Steinman Hall houses the Newsroom where production work takes place. The facilities feature Dell computers with Adobe software, including InDesign for layout and design work, as well as an HP printer. Positions are available for news and feature writers, sports writers, photographers, copy editors, and proofreaders. Experience the full production of a newspaper from start to finish at the Etownian Newsroom!

The Writing Wing

The Writing Wing’s mission is to help students become the best writers they can be. English majors are invited to become writing tutors to help their peers hone their skills and revise assignments. Our tutoring takes a holistic approach, focusing on improving a student’s overall writing ability. The Writing Wing is located in the Learning Zone on the second floor of the Baugher Student Center.
