Financial Aid

Instructions for applying for financial aid are separated into two sections according to type of student.

Application Instructions for Traditional Day Students:

Prospective Students

Beginning in October 2017, the Financial Aid Office will mail financial aid application instructions to all 2018-2019 prospective students who have APPLIED to the College. You must be accepted to the College before any financial aid is awarded. However, you do not need to be accepted to the College to begin the process of applying for financial aid.  For maximum need-based financial aid consideration, apply by March 15, 2018.  The Financial Aid Office will process applications and mail financial aid award letters beginning late October 2017. 

  • Create a FSA ID - You will need an FSA ID to electronically sign and submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), as well as to make any needed corrections later. If you are a dependent student, your parent will need his or her own FSA ID, too.
  • Complete the FAFSA

Graduate Students

Returning Students

Beginning in February, the Financial Aid Office will mail financial aid application instructions to all returning students.  For maximum need-based financial aid consideration, apply by April 1, 2018.

Returning students will receive financial aid notifications beginning in June.

Application Instructions for School of Continuing and Professional Studies Students:

If you are interested in applying for financial aid for the 2018-2019 academic year, please follow the instructions below.  The 2018-2019 academic year includes the Summer 2018, Fall 2018, and Spring 2019 semesters.

  • Apply for your FSA ID beforehand. The FSA ID serves as a student's electronic signature.
  • Complete the 2018-2019 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  If you are an undergraduate student, please complete the FAFSA by May 1st in order to apply for eligibility for the PHEAA State Grant Program. Elizabethtown College’s Federal School Code is 003262.
  • Complete and submit the Employer Educational Assistance Form When you submit, please include a copy of your employer’s reimbursement policy if applicable.  The form can be returned via US mail, fax, or uploaded to our Secured Document upload. Contact our office for username and password.

Federal Verification

If you are selected by the federal processor for verification, you will be required to complete additional documentation.  You will receive an email advising what specific documentation will be needed from you to complete verification. 

Federal Direct Loans

First-time borrowers will need to complete the Federal Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling.  This is completed at  You will need your FSA User ID and password to complete. 

Academic Standards

You must maintain certain qualitative and quantitative academic standards to remain eligible for federal financial aid.  The Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy can be viewed on our website  under “SAP Standards”.

Award Notification                                                                                                              

Once you have completed your application and enrolled in courses, a financial aid package will be assembled for you. First time award notifications will be generated and mailed via US mail.  Since the Continuing and Professional Studies semester format is based upon Accelerated 5-Week Sessions, please review "Accelerated Courses & Financial Aid Eligibility".
