Register below for your ONE DAY Summer Orientation!




Welcome to Elizabethtown College.  Our required summer orientation program is called Blue Jays Beginnings.  You will visit campus on one day from among these dates: June 20, 21, 22, or 23, 2018.  You will meet your First Year Seminar professor who is also your academic advisor, you will meet your upper class student Peer Mentor, you will receive a copy of your fall semester schedule of classes, you will learn about the Core curriculum and requirements of various academic programs.  We will answer all your questions about financial aid, student employment, athletics, residence halls, meal plans, extra-curricular programs, academic support services, and leadership opportunities.

Students and families may select one of the four dates to attend June orientation.


Important Dates:

May 7: An email from ITS to new students with instructions to set up Elizabethtown College email and Jayweb accounts
May 7-21: IMPORTANT: New students submit orientation forms through Jayweb
Mid-May: Office of Residence Life emails new students the "Think About It" video link. Must be completed before arriving in August.        
May 21: Last day for new students to submit orientation online registrations and forms
May 25: Confirmation email sent to new students with assigned orientation date and next steps
June 20-23: Orientation

  • New students will receive their fall semester class schedule
  • New students and parents will meet First Year Seminar professor who is also their academic advisor
  • New students will submit signed residency agreement for living on campus (housing assignment will not be made until signed agreement has been received by the Office of Residence Life).

June 24: Last day for new students to submit Housing Preference Profile through Jayweb
August 1: Deadline for new students to mail their Health Form to Student Health Office
Early August: New student housing assignments emailed (College email address) from Residence Life
August 17: Momentum students move-in day
August 23: Honors students move-in day
August 24: New student move-in day and orientation begins for Class of 2022!

Recognition of the class of 2022 and their families: introduction of the First Year Seminar Peer Mentors
9:15 a.m.

STUDENTS- PICTURE THIS, GET CONNECTED, & BLUE JAY SWAG- Center for Student Involvement, Baugher Student Center
Photographs for student ID, photo opportunities for social media, assistance for adding email to the students' mobile phone, how to connect students' electronic devices to the campus Wi-Fi network. Elizabethtown College "swag" sale in the College Store and Brossman Commons Concourse.

FAMILIES- ORIENTATION ESSENTIALS FOR PARENTS AND FAMILIES  Musser Auditorium of Leffler Chape l & Performance Center
Representatives from the offices of Diversity, Learning Zone, Disability Services, Dining Services, and Athletics.

10:30 a.m.

STUDENTS & FAMILIES- ACADEMIC ADVISING FOR BLUE JAYS- Musser Auditorium of Leffler Chapel & Performance Center
Representatives from Academic Affairs: First Year Experience, Core Curriculum and Signature Learning Experiences, Registration and Records, Academic Advising and the Center for Student Success, Campus Store, Career Services, and Information Technology Services will introduce students and parents to resources for academic advising.

Students and families join First Year Seminar Peer Mentors forming into Blue Jay Flocks to meet the student's First Year Seminar faculty/academic advisor.
1:15 p.m.

Students learn about the subject of their First Year Seminar, academic advising and peer mentoring in the First Year Program, receive and review their academic schedule for the Fall 2018 semester.

FINANCIAL MATTERS FOR FAMILIES-  Gibble Auditorium, Esbenshade Hall
Representatives from the offices of Financial Aid, the Business Office, Student Health, Study Abroad, Human Resources/Student Employment and PSECU will facilitate presentations and discussions for parents.

2:15 p.m. STUDENTS- WELCOME TO THE NEST- Gibble Auditorium, Esbenshade Hall
First Year Seminar Peer Mentors introduce the Blue Jay Flocks to the campus from a students' perspective based on the Moth Radio Hour Story Slam which is devoted to the art and craft of storytelling and StoryCorps modeled- in spirit and in scope- after the efforts of the Works Progress Administration of the 1930s to collect and share people's stories.

Parents learn about the subject of their student's First Year Seminar, academic advising and peer mentoring in the First Year Program.
3:00 p.m. STUDENTS & FAMILIES- RESIDENCE LIFE & STUDENT WELLNESS -*At 3:00 p.m. students join parents in Musser Auditorium of Leffler Chapel & Performance Center
Representatives from Residence Life and Student Life introduce students and families to life on campus, highlighting various Themed Communities with an overview of student wellness resources and programming
3:45 p.m. RESIDENCE HALLS TOURS- Various locations
3:45 p.m. STUDENT WELLNESS OPEN HOUSE-  Baugher Student Center 216
4:00 p.m. MOMENTUM ORIENTATION - Hoover Hall 212
4:30 p.m. FAREWELL FOR NOW - Baugher Student Center Terrace (tent) Stop by and visit should you have any last minute questions.
  Please note our Jay's Nest grill and College Store will be open until 5 p.m.
