Short-Term Study Abroad Trip to Northern Ireland

Credit: 2 credit spring course and completion of a Signature Learning Experience.

Description: Students will register for the two-credit ED372 course Peace Education and Integrated Schools in Northern Ireland and the United States, which explores the history, processes, and practices of peace education in those two countries. Comparative methods of peace education, integrative practices, inclusion, mediation, and conflict resolution will be examined. In the course, students will conduct independent research with a faculty mentor that links course content to each student's program of study. Upon completion of the course, students will travel to Belfast and Derry to visit integrated and shared schools and meet with leaders of the Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Education. Then, it's off to London to tour Parliament and Big Ben.
