As we prepare for the return of our students in the fall, I hope you are taking some time to enjoy the summer. As a community, we are also focused on reaching the final stages of our new five-year Strategic Plan so we may begin the implementation process to accomplish our goals.
As shared at our Town Hall in June, our Board of Trustees (BOT) adopted our themes, goals, and objectives during the May BOT meetings. The themes we are pursuing include:
Dynamic & Relevant Education
Anchor & Partner Institution
Currently, we are developing implementation plans for each objective that identify responsible individuals, detailed timelines, intended outcomes, and budgetary support. We anticipate implementing some of these plans during the fall 2021 semester. It will take the support and dedication of our campus community to help us achieve all of the goals within our plan.
We appreciate all of your input up to this point which has greatly helped to advance the Strategic Plan for the next five years so, together, we can evolve, engage, and empower a renewed Elizabethtown College.
Thank you all for your engagement with the strategic planning process so far. Hundreds of our campus community members and supporters have engaged with the process so far, building a stronger and richer plan. Hearing from people during the ideation sessions helped us determine the areas on which we should focus (our themes) and the theme sessions provided feedback on refining those themes and generated ideas for goals underneath them.
Each theme was assigned to a working group – comprised of faculty, staff, and students – for further refinement and to develop draft goals. This work was informed not only by your feedback but by the research provided by our external consultant as well as our own research on current and future higher education trends. The working groups provided drafts of the themes and goals to the Senior Leadership Team for review and refinement before sharing them with the Board of Trustees and the campus community for input.
The working groups will be taking all this feedback as they work to provide a final draft of themes and goals along with preliminary objectives. This next iteration will be provided to the campus community for input at the beginning of April. You can always share thoughts and feedback through our Strategic Plan web form.
