Mark Clapper serves as the Associate Director of Alumni Relations at Elizabethtown College. A 1996
graduate of the College, he previously worked as a member of the Office of
Admissions staff, most recently as Associate Director of Admissions.
As
a member of the advancement division, Mark most enjoys re-connecting
alumni with Elizabethtown and keeping them up-to-date with how their
school is evolving. Some of the hallmarks of his work involve working
with the World Wide Web and electronic communication. Clapper has
extensive experience in website development and has managed numerous
projects for Elizabethtown and other organizations, such as
the Baltimore City Teachers' Trust, Inc. (BCTT). Recently, he also received recognition for engineering an award-winning e-newsletter for the
Elizabethtown College alumni online community. On a larger professional scale, Mark is an
Executive Committee member of the National Educational Alumni Trust (NEAT),
a non-profit organization that provides alumni associations with a means to offer benefits to their constituents, and serves as Secretary. Additionally, Clapper serves on the
Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District II
Venture Capital Fund Review Committee, is involved with the PA Share Consortium for Alumni Relations
Professionals and holds an individual membership within
the CASE organization.
During his tenure in admission at Elizabethtown, Clapper was very active in the
Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling (PACAC)
and held numerous leadership positions within the organization’s
executive committee and sub-committee groups as well as a faculty position
for the association’s Summer Institute at Bucknell University.
In addition to his work in the Office of Alumni Relations, Mark is a member of
Elizabethtown College’s Web Oversight Committee (WOC), Instructional Resources and Technology Committee (IRT) and the Called To
Lead mentoring program, and serves as Chair of the Homecoming Committee, Volunteer Opportunities Committee (VOC) and the College's annual United Way Campaign. In addition, he devotes time to advising the Class of 2009 and Vocalign, Elizabethtown's co-ed a cappella singing group. Also during his tenure at the College, he
served as assistant coach for the Blue Jay
men’s and
women’s
tennis teams.
While active with racquet sports of all kinds, Clapper
enjoys tennis the most and plays competitively as a member of the
United States Tennis Association (USTA). Mark also plays squash, badminton and racquetball.
