Mentoring & Internships
One-on-one career advice from a seasoned business executive and a direct connection to leaders in the global business community is invaluable to your education and professional development. That’s one of the hallmarks of the Elizabethtown International Business program. Every IB student is matched with a mentor from our advisory board, a group of 50+ business leaders that ensure our curriculum continues to prepare students for today’s business world.
Imagine being in a room with a few dozen powerful and successful executives and entrepreneurs, and sitting with a couple of them at lunch. That’s what happens once per year, when our International Business advisory board members come to campus for International Business Day. On this day, students can meet with their mentor, network with others and have lunch with business executives.
As an International Business student at Elizabethtown College, you will take concepts you’ve learned in the classroom into a professional setting by completing at least one internship either in the U.S. or abroad. IB students could also apply for a 6-8 month co-op opportunity with a multinational company and still graduate in 4 years.
Internships and co-ops not only give students practical experience and a chance to gain valuable insight, but they also build communication skills, boost confidence and, often, lead to job opportunities.
While one internship is required in the IB program, it is not uncommon for Elizabethtown students to pursue multiple placements. Strong relationships with our advisory board members and their respective companies, as well as formal partnerships with many local companies, provide access to quality internship sites.
In addition to internships and co-op opportunities, IB students work on real projects for multinational corporations as class assignments. The IB program cooperates closely with the Pennsylvania Office of International Business and the Small Business Development Center to identify IB-related projects for the students. These Collaborative Industry Partnership (CIP) projects will give our students hands-on experience of working with several multinational companies each year. Our students work in teams of 2-3 as professional consultants to conduct research for each company and present their recommendations to the company executives at the end of the semester.
Additionally, through alumni-student networking events, our active group on LinkedIn, and advisory board members, our students are meeting and learning from our diverse group of alumni. In many cases, these connections have led to internships or jobs for our students!
|F. William Bogle||Bill Bogle is President of Genesis Packaging Technologies located in Exton, PA. Genesis is the world's leading manufacturer of capping equipment and related testing equipment for pharmaceutical companies that are manufacturing injectable drugs. Genesis maintains an active business relationship with every major pharmaceutical company in the U.S. as well as many of their European, Asian and South American affiliates. Prior to joining Genesis, Mr. Bogle held leadership positions in Sales, Business Development and General Management with The West Company of Lionville, PA; Global Market Management of Malvern, PA; Schubert Seals A/S of Horsens, Denmark and Comar Inc. of Vineland, NJ. In his forty years in the packaging industry, he has conducted business at pharmaceutical manufacturing sites in twenty nine countries.|

|Martin Brill||Martin Brill began his career as assistant press attaché in the Embassy of Iran in Washington in 1974. Subsequently he worked for the US Department of Commerce as Middle East & African Desk Officer for the National Marine Fisheries Service and as Information Officer for the European Communities Delegation. He has also worked as a bank officer for The First National Bank of Chicago and Maryland National Bank in international trade finance. For the past 14 years, Martin has been working with small companies in South-central PA as an international trade consultant, advising businesses on strategic planning, finance, marketing and logistics. He has traveled extensively in South America, Europe and the Middle East. Martin has a BSFS from Georgetown University and an MA in Mideast East Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.|

|Eric Del Viscio||Eric is a Senior Vice President with Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Prior to that he was in the Commercial Banking Group of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. and responsible for corporate relationships in Pennsylvania. Previously Eric was with the International Corporate Finance Group (ICF) at Wachovia Securities International Limited. As a member of the ICF client management team, Eric's focus was on broadening existing major Wachovia relationships and developing new relationships both in the U.S. and in Europe. Prior to joining Wachovia, Eric was a Risk Analyst in Equipment Leasing & Finance with General Electric Capital Corporation and a Credit Analyst in Equipment Finance for the Tokai Bank Limited in Berwyn, Pennsylvania. Eric majored in Business Administration and then obtained his MBA, with a concentration in Finance, from the Erivan K. Haub School of Business at St. Joseph's University.|

|James Reeb||Jim Reeb has over 30 years of experience in corporate real estate and development advisory services, specifically in strategic planning, business platform design, location analysis, global investment strategies, capital market financing options, infrastructure, and facility development. Prior to his role at Institute St Onge and its affiliates, Mr. Reeb was a Global Business Consulting Group Senior Partner and Managing Director at Cushman & Wakefield having established and developed the practice into an acknowledged international industry leader. Before C&W, Mr. Reeb was Director/Partner of Real Estate Advisory for Deloitte & Touche's, Global Manufacturing Expansion and Mid-Atlantic Region. Mr. Reeb established, and was President and Senior Partner of RESMA Realty Advisors of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Prior to selling the firm to Deloitte & Touche, he successfully managed consistent growth for the company in the advisory arena. He also held the position of Development Partner with Rouse & Associates, known today as First Industrial and Liberty Property Trust, and was a Senior Consultant in the Real Estate Advisory Services - Project Management Oversight practice of PriceWaterhouseCooper. Mr. Reeb holds dual Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Accounting and Civil/Industrial Engineering (with honors) and a Master's degree MBA in Real Estate & Urban Land Studies (with honors) from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; his post graduate work focused on Cross-Cultural Management and Micro-Leadership as part of a executive DBA at University of Glasgow, Scotland and a post-graduate fellowship in Macro Strategy Formulation at Harvard University. He currently is pursuing post-graduate studies in Organization Transformation as part of a Doctor of Strategic Leadership (DSL) at Regents University in VA.|

|Amy Sahm||Amy joined Fulton Bank's International Group in 2002 following a long term career in the Japanese banking and trade industry. Initially her primary responsibilities were management of the bank's foreign exchange business along with sales and marketing for the International Group. She was later promoted to department manager. The International Group at Fulton is responsible for processing of incoming and outgoing foreign payments for Fulton's customer base. The business line includes foreign checks, wires, paper currency and foreign exchange hedging products. Amy earned a B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh in Japanese Studies. She is a member of the World Trade Center Board of Directors and the International Business Advisory Boards at Elizabethtown College, Chester County Economic Development Council and the Harrisburg Regional Chamber of Commerce.|

|W. Henry Yaeger||Henry Yaeger is the Managing Principal of Banner Group LLC, a strategy advisory firm he founded in 2012. He works with executive teams and boards to accelerate group alignment to priorities and actions using online collaboration tools and targeted facilitation. Previously Henry led the Corporate Strategy team at the Hershey Company where he was responsible for the enterprise strategic planning process and management of global strategic initiatives. His broad finance and strategy experience includes roles as head of Marketing Services Finance at Unilever US with responsibility for planning and forecasting of $1.5 billion in marketing expenses and as head of strategy at a start-up software company where he secured $25 million in venture capital funding. Henry lived for several years in Prague, Czech Republic, where he worked at a boutique investment bank engaged in mergers and acquisitions and government privatizations. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Georgetown University and holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management. Henry was born in Peru and speaks Spanish fluently.|

|William Yanavitch||Bill began his career as a Personnel Specialist at Ingersoll Rand Company (Waverly, NY), a global manufacturer of construction equipment. After the facility closed in 1982, Bill furthered his career at Goulds Pumps Inc. (ITT Industries). At Goulds he held a variety of human resource and manufacturing management positions. He was then a Director of Human Resources at Dentsply International where he was the division HR leader with additional responsibilities as chief spokesperson for the company in U.S. labor negotiations and for corporate benefits. In his current position at Glatfelter as the VP of Human Resources & Administration, he is responsible for executive recruitment, labor relations, executive compensation, benefits, communications, government relations, and organizational development. Bill received a Bachelor of Science degree in Labor Relations from Cornell University.|

|Gerrit Zwergel||Gerrit Zwergel, a graduate of the University of Mannheim in Germany, joined a large International CPA firm in 1984. In 1986, he joined KBA AG as the Assistant to the Executive Vice President of Finance. In 1991, Gerrit was promoted to Treasurer of KBA's North America operation and two years later became VP Finance & CFO and Board Member of KBA North America. Throughout his tenure at KBA North America, Gerrit took many leadership roles in various acquisitions and relocations/consolidations of operations designed to increase efficiencies and competitiveness. Today KBA North America is headquartered in Dallas, Texas and continues to successfully expand its market share.|
