About the Department
The Elizabethtown College Department of Mathematical Sciences offers programs in Actuarial Science, Mathematics Secondary Education, Applied Mathematics and Pure Mathematics.
The Department of Mathematical Sciences focuses on student learning in mathematics, from thorough mastery of fundamental mathematical facts and processes, to understanding of the power of abstraction and logical reasoning, to guided exploration of advanced topics in pure and applied mathematics. Programs and courses in Mathematical Sciences support strong preparation for a wide variety of career options, through effective and innovative classroom instruction, individual interaction with faculty advisors, experiential learning through internships and other opportunities beyond the classroom, high ethical standards, and a general spirit of helpful cooperation among faculty and students.
