Elizabethtown Physics and Engineering students are involved in numerous projects in and around campus.

Facilities, Labs and Equipment

The Department of Physics and Engineering, located in the Masters Center for Science, Mathematics & Engineering, encompasses a collection of state-of-the-art laboratories and research spaces as well as areas for students to gather and study.

Areas of Study

The Department of Physics and Engineering offers majors in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering Management, Physics and Secondary Education in Physics (Physics Education). The Department also has a cooperative 3+2 Engineering Program in which students study for three years at Elizabethtown College and then complete two additional years at an affiliate institution. In addition, the Department offers a minor in Physics and participates in the General Science Education program, described in the Interdisciplinary Programs section of this website.

Overview of Major and Minors

Bachelor of Science in Engineering

"Best of both worlds", a technically rigorous curriculum with small class sizes and personal attention within a liberal arts environment. Engineering program emphasizes experiential learning with a student-centered curriculum, hands-on projects every year, and industry collaboration. Broad curricular and project background allows students to excel in the current multidisciplinary nature of the engineering job market.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering

Combines studies of engineering and computer technology, including hardware and software. Upper-level courses and research projects at Elizabethtown have specific emphasis towards robotics.

Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering Management

Combines engineering and business administration, two of the top professional programs at Elizabethtown College.

Cooperative 3+2 Engineering Programs (BA + BS)

Students study for three years at Elizabethtown College and two years at a cooperating engineering university.

Bachelor of Science in Physics

Preparation either for graduate school or for the technical job market. Excellent choice for self-motivated student with broad interests since the lower credit requirements allow for ample electives and possible double majors.

Bachelor of Science in Physics Secondary Education

Offered in conjunction with the education department, leads to Pennsylvania teacher certification at the secondary level.
