A music therapy graduate, Littlehale is working as a music/activity therapist at Arbour-Fuller Hospital in Attleboro, Mass., running music, leisure and life-skills groups with acute psychiatric patients.
Biotechnology major Angela Mitchell of Corning, N.Y., was one of 317 college students across the nation chosen last year to receive the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. Goldwater Scholars are mathematics, science and engineering students selected for outstanding academic achievement. They receive up to $7,500 for expenses like tuition, fees, books, and room and board.
Mitcehll is the second Elizabethtown College student to earn this honor. Her application was based largely on tumor virology research she’s been conducting since her sophomore year with Dr. Jane Cavender of the biology department.
Kelly Downs was among 58 recipients of NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships for fall sports student-athletes. She will receive a one-time, non-renewable educational grant of $7,500 through the program.
The Academic All-American of the Year in volleyball, Downs was an honorable mention All-America selection by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), a member of the AVCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region team and the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year as well as a first-team Academic All-District selection.
An occupational therapy major, Downs has a 4.00 cumulative GPA.
