Office of Residence Life
Residence Life at Elizabethtown College
The Office of Residence Life at Elizabethtown College is here to support students throughout their residential experience. Our team is dedicated to fostering a safe environment where students can grow, connect, and thrive. We oversee all aspects of on-campus living, from housing assignments and roommate support to leadership opportunities and community development. With more than 75% of our students living on campus, Residence Life plays a central role in shaping the student experience.
We encourage students and families to reach out anytime with questions or concerns. While we do maintain regular office hours, please note that, due to the nature of our work and our commitment to supporting students after hours, our staff may not always be available during traditional business times. Your needs are important to us, and we’ll do our best to respond as promptly as possible.

Housing Requirements for Undergraduate Students
Elizabethtown College is a residential college, meaning undergraduate students are required to live on-campus for four years/eight semesters of their undergraduate experience from matriculation. The College views residential life as an important part of a student‘s personal growth. Exceptions to the housing requirement include students 25 years of age or older, students with dependents or who are married, students granted an accommodation through the Americans with Disabilities Act (as approved by Student Disability Services), or students who commute from their permanent residence where they live with family within a 30-mile/ 30-minute radius of campus. Approved and recognized study abroad programs will count toward a student's eight semesters.
We are not able to provide housing for Domestic Non-Degree Seeking Students, SGPS Students, undergraduate students taking less than 12 credits, fifth-year or fifth-year + undergraduate students, and students in Master's/Doctoral programs.
Students who begin their undergraduate career with Etown and will continue through a special option, such as a 4+1 or 3+2, can remain in their housing the spring semester following their December graduation (for those programs with a December graduation). Students in these programs will no longer be eligible for on-campus housing starting the fall semester after their undergraduate graduation.
Students in the PA program, which begins in July, can request summer housing through Special Events and Summer Programs (SESP). Please note that this may not be the same housing assignment for the following fall semester, rates and meal plan requirements are different in the summer than during the academic year, which your housing agreement covers.
Undergraduate students entering Elizabethtown College must sign a College Housing Agreement to reserve a room in one of our residential communities. This agreement reserves space for the student and outlines the responsibilities of both the College and the student to safeguard the rights of all residents. The agreement is for room space without regard to designated residential facilities or specific rooms.
A student may not reserve housing without signing a Housing Agreement or, in the case of a returning student, without registering for the following semester.
Housing agreements are binding throughout a student’s undergraduate enrollment at Elizabethtown College.
Admitted students will receive access to their housing agreement upon deposit through their applicant portal. Returning students may download a copy of their agreement from the housing application in StarRez.
If you are currently commuting and would like to move on-campus please email reslife@etown.edu. If you live on campus and would like to apply to become a commuter or break the housing contract please complete the Housing Change Request Form available through StarRez .
