Short-Term Study Abroad Trip to South Africa

Credit: Two-credit spring course, two-credit May term trip fulfilling a Signature Learning Experience and Non-Western Core.
Description and Learning Outcomes: This course aims to examine the specific problems that South Africa has and continues to deal with due to apartheid. Students will get a sense of the history of the country, the conflicts that have helped define the country, and the steps that have been taken to solve some of these conflicts.
Itinerary Highlights: Johannesburg (Soweto, Constitution Hill), Pretoria (University of South Africa), Cape Town (Bo Kaap Museum), Robben Island, Boulder Beach.
