Marketing Concentrations
You can choose from five concentrations within the major to tailor your Etown experience to your career goals and interests:
As a category management analyst, you’ll learn how to boost sales for product categories - like food, cosmetics, or household goods - by analyzing data on products, competitors, and consumer trends. Elizabethtown College is proud to partner with the Category Management Association, giving students the unique chance to earn professional-level certifications that are typically reserved for those already in the field. Etown is the only college in Pennsylvania and one of just five nationwide to offer this specialized program!
If you are interested in working in a visually creative field such as digital marketing or advertising, this concentration could be perfect for you! You will learn how to interpret and analyze consumer behavior and adapt these findings to successful marketing campaigns for a product or service. This concentration also offers opportunities to learn more about public relations and visual communications, in collaboration with our Communications Department.
Looking for a career in sales? This concentration will provide you with the tools to pursue these opportunities as you study traditional service and retail marketing, learn how to write and present business plans, identify sustainable business practices, and manage business budgets.
Data is a crucial part of the business world and knowing how to interpret this is key to your career success. Within this concentration, you will take classes in data analytics, market research, and business analytics. You will gain a strong understanding of technical concepts and data analysis skills that can be used to drive effective marketing campaigns.
Our self-designed concentration allows you the opportunity to work with our Business faculty to construct a program that fits your unique passions. With guidance from your advisors, you will complete directed studies in core business areas, such as consumer behavior, alongside elective classes in your chosen topic of interest. This is a great option for you if you are considering a career in a specialist industry or marketing niche, such as sports marketing, entertainment marketing or non-profit marketing.
