Student Wellness comprises staff members from Counseling Services, Health Promotion, and Student Health.  All of our staff members are Safe Zone trained.  Meet our team below:

Joni Eisenhauer, MS
Assistant Director of Health Promotion | 717-361-1123

Joni joined the Student Wellness staff in November 2017.  She has over 10 years of experience in public health educating both individuals and groups on various topics including nutrition, tobacco cessation, STI education/prevention, women’s reproductive health and more.  Most recently, she held the role of Clinical Health Coach at Pinnacle Health’s Lebanon Valley Advanced Care Center guiding patients to healthier lifestyles by making dietary recommendations and/or smoking cessation techniques.  Joni earned her BS degree in Health Science and Sociology from Lebanon Valley College and recently earned a MS degree in Nutrition and Integrative Health from Maryland University of Integrative Health.  Joni believes wellness is based on bio individuality, meaning it will look and feel different to each one of us.  She believes in empowering individuals by providing various tools in order for them to find and achieve their personal ideal definition of wellness.  Joni is excited to use her experience and knowledge to enhance and create wellness programs at Elizabethtown College.  Joni oversees the Student Wellness Advocacy Group (SWAG), The WELL, The Body Shop and E-Fit programming.

Jennie Melchior, MA
Staff Counselor

Jennie joined the Student Wellness team in November of 2017. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies from Boston University, her Master’s degree in Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Seminary, and a Certificate in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy from the School of Social Work at Bryn Mawr College. Prior to working at Elizabethtown College, Jennie worked with women and children experiencing homelessness in Philadelphia, children with Autism Spectrum Disorders in Los Angeles, and children and families in crisis in Bethlehem, PA. Jennie utilizes a multi-modal approach to counseling, drawing upon principles from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Theory, trauma-informed practices, and person-centered traditions. Jennie is a generalist therapist who works to create a warm and supportive environment in which students can explore questions of identity, sadness, anxiety, relationships, and purpose.

Bruce G. Lynch, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist

Bruce joined the Student Wellness staff in January 2014, and has over twenty years of experience providing services to students in college counseling centers.  Bruce earned his Ph.D. from the Counseling Psychology program at the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 1995, and worked at Old Dominion University’s counseling center from 1996 to 2003.  He worked in the Counseling & Testing Center at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from 2003 to 2013, serving as the Director for five and one half years and holding positions of Assistant Director, Training Coordinator, and Senior Staff Psychologist.  Bruce is a generalist therapist who assists students with a variety of mental health, situational and developmental concerns.  Areas of professional interest include supervision, suicide prevention, affirming diversity, treatment of depression and anxiety, short term therapy, ethics, wellness, and family systems.  

Veronica Umbrell, MSW, LCSW, CCDP-D
Staff Counselor

After 10 years of hospital-based counseling, Veronica joined the Student Wellness staff in October 2013.  Veronica received her undergraduate degree in Social Work from Millersville University in 2000 and her graduate degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in 2003.  She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Co-Occurring Disorders Professional addictions counselor (CCDP-D).  Veronica is passionate about counseling others using a strengths-based collaborative approach.  As a skilled generalist she has treated clients with a wide range of mental health, situational, and developmental concerns. Her professional interests include treatment of depression and anxiety, addictions recovery, spirituality, psychosocial adjustment, bereavement, self-esteem and development of interpersonal relationships.  Her practice modalities include motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy as well as mindfulness & acceptance techniques. A native to Elizabethtown she is delighted to be providing counseling services to the Elizabethtown College community. 

Eileen Wagener, RN
College Health Liaison | 717-489-1021

Eileen Wagener is a licensed Registered Nurse who joined the Elizabethtown College team in February 2007. She previously worked in student health at another Lancaster county institution of higher education. Earning her associates degree in Nursing from Prince George’s Community College in 1982, Eileen has been practicing professional nursing for more than 36 years. Previous experience includes, cardiac care, surgical care, pediatrics, and ambulatory care. The past 16 years have been spent in college health.
