Caving Trip at Wind Cave with North Fork Adventure

Get off campus and explore the wild caves of Lancaster Country with RecWell and North Fork Adventure! The caving trip will be Saturday, October 25 from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in Wind Cave, Pequea, PA. The cost of the trip is covered by the RecWell Department. Transportation is not provided, but carpools can be arranged! Email recwell@etown.edu to sign up by October 20! Space is limited to 12!

 

Rowvember Challenge

Join RecWell's Rowvember Challenge from November 3 to November 26 and reap all the benefits of this versatile and effective activity!  Log your meters every time you row with the provided log as well as document your row with a picture of the screen to validate meters rowed. Submit your log and pictures at the end of the challenge to be tallied up.  The person that has the most meters rowed by the end of the month will win their very own compact, foldable rower for their home! This challenge can be done with the rowers at the Bowers Center (2) as well as other fitness centers or home gyms (with valid pictures/logs).  Email recwell@etown.edu to register!

 

Sleep Hygiene Week

Healthy habits that aid in getting you regular, restful sleep have been proven to increase focus and alertness, improve mood, strengthen your immune system and reduce stress (among other things)! Join RecWell each day during the week of November 3 as we explore ways to improve your sleep hygiene!

  • Monday, November 3: Tabling - Visit the SWAGs table from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the BSC Concourse and again from 3 - 5 p.m. in the Bowers Center Lower Lounge to learn more about all of the events happening during Sleep Hygiene week! Giveaways such as sleep masks and ear plugs will be distributed all week!
  • Monday, November 3: Refresh and Reset Yoga - Movement, stretching and mobility exercises can positively contribute to better sleep quality. Join Elsa for this late night yoga class to help improve your rest. The class is at 7 p.m. in the Bowers Center Group Fitness Room.   • Tuesday, November 4: Non-caffeinated Drinks Demo - Coffee, soda, energy drinks; we all have our favorite caffeinated beverages! While fine in moderation, caffeine after a certain time of day can negatively affect sleep quality.  Join Joni in the Demo Kitchen from 3 - 5 p.m. to sample a hot, calming, and non-caffeinated drink that can improve sleep while also tasting good!
  • Wednesday, November 5: MYO Rice Therapy Bags - Join RecWell to make your own Rice Therapy Bags from 3 - 5 p.m. in the Bowers Center Demonstration Kitchen. Information on scents and how they affect our mood will also be provided. Supplies provided while they last.

 

CPR Certifications

The Office of Campus Recreation and Well-Being offers certification through the American Red Cross for Adult First Aid/CPR/AED. The cost for current Elizabethtown College students, staff and faculty is $65. The cost for community members is $80.
