International Baccalaureate (IB) Credit
Elizabethtown College recognizes International Baccalaureate (IB) for the purpose of admission, course credit, advanced standing or placement. Students do not have to earn an International Baccalaureate Diploma to receive academic credit. The college does not award credit for standard level (SL) examinations.
- IB Diploma recipients, earning a total score of 30 or higher, will earn 32 credits (equivalent to sophomore status).
- IB Certificate recipients receive credit (depending on the subject) for scores of five or better on higher level (HL) examinations.
The IB website has instructions on how alumni of their program can request IB transcripts. Transcripts are evaluated on an individual basis.
International A-levels are the most widely used qualification for entry to British universities because they are based on the well-established and internationally recognized. A-level examinations are typically taken by students two years after O-level or IGCSE examinations. International A-level syllabi are offered in numerous academic subject areas.
Cambridge International Examinations, A Level, may be considered for the award of college transfer credit. Students are required to submit official GCE A-level results (not just a student's photocopy) and to meet with the appropriate department chair that governs the course discipline. No grade below C is considered. Syllabi or examples of written work may be requested by faculty for precise placement determinations. Most typically, the credit awarded is one or two terms at the introductory level.
No degree credit is awarded for AS-, AO- or O-level (Ordinary) results.
How do I obtain an official transcript of my score?
Cambridge International Examinations has an official transcript request form for ordering copies of your Cambridge International A-level score results. The scores must be sent directly to our office for review. We cannot accept documents sent directly to the student.
Transcripts must be sent directly to: Registration and Records, Elizabethtown College, One Alpha Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022
Students who have international credentials are encouraged to apply to Elizabethtown College. International credentials should be sent to an international evaluation service like World Education Services (WES) or International Education Evaluations (IEE) . An official translation with credit recommendations must be sent directly from the evaluation service to the Admissions Office at Elizabethtown College. The official translation with credit recommendations will then be evaluated by the Office of Registration and Records.
